A winter storm warning calls conditions in New England "hazardous," according to the National Weather Service.
Snowfall in parts of Massachusetts may reach up to eight inches overnight, creating hazardous conditions for commuters, according to a Tweet made by the National Weather Service Boston.
The Springfield School District was the first major district to announce that schools, offices, student assignment services, and after-school activities would close for the day. Worcester Public Schools followed suit later in the evening.
Other major Massachusetts districts with planned closures include:
- Hampshire Regional School District (Hampshire County)
- Holyoke and Chicopee Public Schools (Hampden County)
- Worcester Public Schools (Worcester County)
- Chelsea Public Schools (Suffolk County)
- Peabody, Lynn and Salem Public Schools (Essex County)
- Brockton Public Schools (Plymouth County)
